"Mommy?"
"Yes?"
"Mommy?"
"Yes."
"Mauly?"
"She's sleeping. Look, over there, she's sleeping."
"Sleeping?"
"Yep, that's what dogs do."
"dog do?"
"Yep, dog do."
At this point we both break into hysterical laughter. It's a good thing we're both on the same level.Comments:Add a comment:

A good friend of mine, with a daughter Jake's age, asked me about how many words Jake says. Because I can't count that high (I only have 10 fingers and 10 toes ya know), I decided to sit down and make a list. Currently that list is up to 155 words, at least twenty of which he knows the sign for. Matt and I were both shocked. I honestly would have guessed about half that number.
Yesterday we took Jake grocery shopping. He decided he'd rather run around the store than be pushed around in the cart. So, since there were two of us, we let him go.
He took a quick interest in a display of coolers. Well, not really the display as much as the one sitting on the floor next to the display. He quickly figured out how to open and close the lid, then got really excited and exclaimed, "potty!"
I explained that it wasn't a potty (though did look a bit like his potty), but a cooler. But, that wasn't good enough, he was convinced that it was a potty, and tried to climb on top. Luckily he hasn't gotten to the point where he takes his pants off first.
When it was time to go I actually had to pick him up, physically remove him from the cooler, and carry him toward the check stand. All the while Jake was leaning over my shoulder reaching for the coolers screaming "POTTY! POTTY! POTTY!" as loud as he could.
Funny how excited I was for him to start talking.Comments:Add a comment:

Wow! Talk about your whirlwind holidays!
Jake had a great time on Christmas. He figured out that presents were for opening (not just carrying around), and loved all the attention and food.
We had a great Christmas! Thank you to everyone for the great food, fun, and gifts!
He turned 17 months old today. And is running through the house so quickly we can hardly keep up. He is able to tell us exactly what he wants, who he wants, and sometimes even how he is feeling (usually either happy or tired). Jake is up to 10 teeth (unless he's hiding one in there), and I'm getting ready to make his first dentist appointment.
Not even quite a year and a half old, and he's fully in charge of the world around him.Comments:Add a comment:
