So Disappointed
I honestly wasn't going to post anything about how awful the 'preschool' was, but maybe its not a bad idea to explain why we aren't going back.
Exactly 6 days after his first day, Jake came down with pink eye, and a cold. I didn't see a single person wash their hands (not even the teachers before serving snack, ewww). And, I firmly believe that putting a child under 3 years old in time out is not age appropriate.
There was more, but who needs more? That was enough. So, we are looking into other preschools, and taking some classes together. It'll be more fun that way anyway.Comments:Add a comment:

School Day Two
Picture day! It didn't go well. Poor kid, I ended up spending the whole 2 1/2 hours at school with him. Going between sitting in the corner quietly showing him that Mommy is less fun than school, and then participating in activities to show him how much fun it is.
Let's hope it gets better from here on out.Comments:Add a comment:

Jake's First Day of School (part 2)
The school didn't call me to come pick him up early, so I thought that was a good sign. When I showed up, I could hear him crying from outside the building.
The teacher said he'd only been crying for 10 or 15 minutes, and that he really didn't even notice I wasn't there for the first hour.
Let's hope he gets used to school quickly, and settles into a routine with no problem!Comments:Add a comment:

Jake's First Day of School (part 1)
I dropped Jake off for his first day of pre-school this morning. He has class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 11:30.
Before class he was running up and down the hallway checking out all the other kids. Talking and playing like he was an old pro.
The teacher opened the door to the classroom and I introduced Jake, she handed me a bunch of paperwork to fill out IN THE HALL and said, "why don't you let him come in and check it out."
*deep breath*
I put Jake down and gave him a little nudge toward the room and said, "go ahead, go play." And the kid RAN. No "bye, mom" or "don't worry mommy, I'll be fine," he just ran straight for the toys and the other kids.
I spent about 10 minutes in the hall filling out paperwork (kind of dizzy and nauseous the whole time), handed it to the teacher, peeked in the room... where he was happily playing with some other kids... and she said, "ok, we'll see you after class."
I said,"he has water, and a sweatshirt in his bag..." and she said, "ok, we'll see you AFTER class."
So I left.
The panic attacks are subsiding, and I'm feeling a little better, yet still anxious. I can't believe my itty bitty baby is in school already.Comments:Add a comment:
