    Cleaning Up

Jake officially has his first chore. A few days ago I cleaned out a drawer in the kitchen and filled it with all his plastic cups, bowls, and plates. Last night, he put away his clean dishes! I stood at the counter and handed them to him one at a time, and he took them and put them in his drawer. Not only was it cute, but practical!

Next week, he's mowing the lawn!

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Sundays?

Sunday is the one day of the week that I can be sure Matt will have the day off. I can lay in bed and listen to a crying (or on occasion, happy) baby, and not have to get up to see what the fuss is. Usually, about the time I'm waking up and just laying there listening to my boys playing, they come back and give me a kiss before leaving.

I never ask where they go, I never say anything more than, "bye, have fun." And, they are usually gone for at least two hours. Often, by the time they get home its about nap time, so Jake and Matt both take naps, and I get another bonus hour or two to myself.

Jake typically gets up, eats, then goes out with daddy again. Either a bike ride, or a walk, they spend more time together while I... well, I do whatever I want. *bliss, rapture, joy*

Have I mentioned that I love Sundays?

So we went straight from cancelling preschool into three other classes. Classes that we can do together.

The first is called 'Stretch-N-Grow.' Its basically a gymnasium set up with big foam mats, balls, balloons, a little slide, and generally all kinds of things for toddlers to play on, in, or with.

Then we have 'Sounds of Music.' Thirty minutes of singing, dancing, playing, and enjoying the teacher and her goofy antics. So far this is the class that Jake has seemed to be most into.

Finally, we attend 'Busy Bees.' Set up just like a preschool classroom without the structure, the kids run around and play, paint, draw, color, and generally expend tons of energy while learning a little bit in the process.

I have really been amazed at how readily we have been welcomed into all of these classes. I don't know what I expected, but everyone has been so nice, and Jake & I both have had a great time. Not only that, but all the rooms have been clean, and the teachers are attentive and helpful.

Finally, something we both look forward to doing every week!
